Top 10 benefits (!?) of having a Cold....

Yeah, I hab a code... err a cold.... There's been one floating around school since our return from holiday break, and it found me last Wednesday. This weekend was given over totally to trying to get better, and I am not sure I am making progress. SO.. instead of whining about it, I've decided to play "Pollyanna" with it and see if I can find some benefit in cold nursing.... Here goes.

10. You have an excuse to talk less to your students and anyone else you don't want to talk with.
9. You get to sleep in on the weekend.
8. You drink 5x's more juice and tea than you normally would.
7. You don't feel very hungry... makes dieting a LOT easier.
6. You stop caring what your hair looks like... at least while at home.
5. You have a good excuse to have your own PBS marathon, I love PBS!
4. You can knit all you like and nobody expects you to move around much.
3. Clementine oranges now qualify as medicine.
2. Whether it rains or snows outside ceases to matter to you.
1. Your hubby will make you his awesome chicken soup!

So there we are, readers.... some decided benefits of nursing a cold.... which hopefully STAYS just a cold.... if not, I'll be back with added thoughts!

Spring Break Top Ten

There a many things to love about being a teacher. Spring Break is one of them. It comes at a time when you really NEED it and can also fully appreciate it as well. Here are my top 10 reasons to love Spring Break:
  1. Sleeping in is totally the best thing... even if you don't do it every day.
  2. You can find time to do things that "normal" people do, like bake a batch of cookies.
  3. It is totally okay to wear jeans every day except Easter Sunday.
  4. You can catch up on long overdue items of "personal importance" - like doing your taxes!
  5. It is okay to stay up late reading a book or knitting or whatever your heart desires because you can always sleep in the next morning (see #1)
  6. The dog gets to go for more walks than he normally does.
  7. You can take an afternoon to just hang out with someone you love - no schedules, no deadlines... nice!
  8. The weather, although sporadic, is generally nice enough to convince you that winter is nearly over.
  9. You can catch up on your correspondence... both snail mail and email.
  10. Sleeping in.... did I mention sleeping in????
We hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break... wherever and however you managed to fit one in!

Things You Can Learn from the Flu

In no particular order... these are things I learned in the past 24 hrs.

10. Germs are no respecter of persons.
9. Tossing up one's cookies is less fun than baking cookies.
8. You can't do crossword puzzles or grade papers with a flu-induced headache.
7. Daytime television is a vast wasteland.
6. Dogs can't catch the flu; so they make good company while you have it.
5. Yogurt for 3 meals a day is boring.
4. Flat Vernors is a flu victim's best friend.
3. My husband is the best sympathy giver there ever was!
2. After 8 hours of nausea, eating a slice of bread is like having steak.
1. Thinking you dodged the flu a week after your spouse had it is a piece of fanciful but false logic!
