I'm an Olympic Junkie

It's time to confess, I am an Olympic Junkie. Tonight, even as I knew I should be catching some much needed z's, I sat in the family room riveted to my big screen. Why? Because ICE DANCING was on, of course! One by one, I watched the competitor couples crash and fall, then the Americans came on the ice last and skated a perfect program. I positively whooped out loud for them, scaring Chas to pieces as he snoozed next to me on the sofa. That's when I knew... it's hopeless - I am hooked. I expect to get very little accomplished in the coming 4-5 evenings when the women's singles start. Skating is my sport of choice... followed by Hockey! Talk about a contrast!!! Ah well, once it's over there are 2 long years to wait till the next time. So, Vive la Torino!!!

It's all about the "Mooooo!"

Highlight for February at our house... LEATHER furniture finally made its debut in our living room!!!! This is a huge deal to Ed; less of a huge deal to me, but I do admit that it's pretty and is very comfortable. Not as cozy and soft as ultra-suede or something similar.. but it does look nice. Chas has yet to be on it.. so he has no opinion on it either, yet. We'll see... I suspect he'll test drive it pretty soon, most likely when we're not looking!

Still no snow day!

Here it is the day before Valentine's Day and we still have had no substantial snowfall this winter! It feels so unfair. Seriously, when one becomes a teacher, one expects their fair allotment of snowdays. Alas! But I guess I should feel lucky since New York got 27'' on Saturday and didn't call a snowday today either!

Well, the Winter One-Acts a.k.a. Comedy Cafe came off without a hitch at LHS this past Friday and Saturday. Thus, I complete my 17 year stint as director of LHS theater. While the weekend was full of mixed emotions on that score, it's a good decision for me. I am ready to explore new things and find some time for myself as well.

Bigger news, Ed was contacted by the local Democratic committee about being their candidate for a run at the State Legislature come next November. We talked, and I think he's going to do it. Should be interesting to catch the reactions of longtime Republican friends.

All in all, an interesting weekend!

Chas: our 40 mph Couch Potato

To know a greyhound is to
love a greyhound.... and to
give up your sofa for life!

Hello Friends!

Beginning a Blog... you would think it would be an easy task for a couple of well-seasoned English teachers. Well, think again. But the idea is intriguing, and we can't let our kids one-up us on this by having cool blogs of their own while we have zippo; so here we are.

We hope this will be a great place to post photos and stay in touch with those who live far away. Beyond that, we'll wait and see.

This shot is us with our 2 best blessings in the world ... our grandsons!
